Ude Tanren

Sensei Lyon practices Ude Tanren, a forearm toughening exercise typical for Goju-Ryu Karate.

As the student becomes accustomed to the sensation (and pain) of force-against-force blocks, the arms begin to toughen into formidable weapons whereby a block can be transformed into a powerful attack.

Once the opponent has received a powerful block they will become reluctant to strike again for fear of being injured by the force of the trained GoJuRyu Karateka’s Ude Tanren hardened Arms of Steel.
